Description
Size: 6ft 11in x 4ft 3in (211 x 129cm).Antique Baluch rug with lattice design. A rug of desirable larger than average size.
Circa 1880.
A superb Baluch rug with a fine latch hook medallion lattice design in alternate rows of different shades of madder red and cochineal on a indigo blue ground. The border is of classic Baluch leaf' design on a madder red ground.
The rug is in good condition with slight wear and good long pile. The rug has very good glossy wool and also retains the original kilims at both ends, these have weft work decoration. There is some corrosion to the olive browns as one would expect. The side bindings have been subject to numerous repairs over the years.
The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
