Description

Size: 6ft 2in x 4ft 5in (189 x 134cm).
This rug is an outstanding example of nomadic tribal weaving by the Khamseh tribe. The rug is probably woven by the Arab-e-Abolmohammadi or Arab-e- Mazidi tribal sub group of the Khamesh.
Circa 1880.
The rug has an ivory coloured field filled with rows of large boteh, not that there are only three boteh in the bottom row and four in all the others. This style of boteh is known as 'eagle on a nest' by the local weavers. The rug is unusual due to the amount of yellow/gold used in the design, the borders are very attractive.
The rug is in excellent condition with a fine weave and medium low pile. This is a fine and light weight rug.
The rug is suitable for light domestic use.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
