Description

Size: 3ft 11in x 4ft 2in (120 x 128cm).
A good Persian sofreh (eating cloth) by the Afshar tribe, these were placed on the ground for food to be served on or in some cases for the preparation of bread.
Circa 1900/20.
This example is woven with a mixture of plain flat weave, weft work and some soumak. The central panel is of bold design with wonderful use of colour.
The sofreh is in excellent condition with very slight wear.
The sofreh is suitable for light domestic floor use or it would make a great throw or wall hanging.
The sofreh has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
