Description
Size: 6ft 2inx 5ft 2in (188 x 157cm).Antique South West Persian Khamseh tribal rug with three linked medallions. Note the numerous chickens and other birds along with many small animals.
Late 19th century.
This rug is an excellent example of Khamseh tribal weaving, each of the three medallions is filled with pecking chickens. The indigo blue field is completely covered with tribal design elements including, birds, animals, stars and flowers. The border design is one of the classic Khamseh designs.
The rug has even wear with medium pile.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display. The rug is suitable for light domestic use.
A superb collectible display item.
