About 60 years old.
This outstanding carpet is a scarce example from the workshop of the Master Weaver 'Habibian'. Fathollah Habibian (1903-1995) ran one of the most famous Na'in workshops and is widely regarded as 'the father of Nain rugs'. Producing fine carpets with his brother Mohammed since his school days Fathollah Habibian is responsible for the design and weaving of some of the world's finest Nains. The workshop is now run by the son of Fathollah's daughter.
The carpet is of fine weave with tight fine pile of soft lambs wool with silk high lights. The carpet has a velvet like feel.
The carpet has a floral design around a central star medallion and has amazing detail, it is an good example of type. This is a carpet of good quality that would grace any room. Note the large eight point start is each corner. The carpet is signed 'Iran, Habibian, Nain' in a cartouche in the upper border.
The colours are superb, with an ivory ground with the design in beautiful clear colours. The border provides a good contrast to the field.
The carpet is in excellent condition with no wear and full pile, and has recently been hand washed.
The carpet is suitable for normal domestic use.
The carpet is ready for use or display.
