Size: 6ft 8in x 4ft 5in (203 x 135cm).An excellent Jozan Sarouk rug with outstanding colour.
Circa 1900.
The rug has a small almost circular medallion on an abrashed light green ground. The field is filled with a fine flowering vine lattice. The dark charcoal border is of a classic design associated with the village of Jozan.
The village of Jozan is in the Malayer region of Northwest Persian; Jozan rugs are considered to be of finer weave than others from this region.
The rug is in excellent condition with even wear and medium pile. There is corrosion to the charcoal coloured wool in the top border, this can be seen in the close up images. The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
