Description

Size: 3ft 11in x 3ft 3in (120 x 98cm).
Antique Central Anatolian Konya region village prayer rug.
Circa 1800-1820.
A superb example of a Konya prayer rug, the soft red central mihrab is floating on a soft pistachio green ground, the rug is framed by a main border in a soft 'butterscotch' colour with rosettes and flowering vine. This style of border is often associated with rugs from the town of Ladik. The rug is beautifully drawn with a perfectly balanced colour palette.
The rug has very soft wool and a floppy handle, the rug has slight even wear with good pile.
Hand washed and ready for use or display. The rug would make a superb wall hanging or would be suitable for very light domestic use.
Stock Number: H-525.
