Size: 5ft 6in x 3ft 1in (168 x 94cm).Antique Baluch rug from the Khorasan region of Eastern Persia.
Circa 1880.
This is a good rug with a very well drawn lattice containing the 'snowflake' or 'blossom' design, on a dark indigo blue ground. Note the small trees filling the spaces within the lattice at the sides of the field. The main border is an interesting variant of the traditional Baluch 'boat' or 'vine' border. Both ends retain part of the original decorated kilim end finish.
The rug is in good condition with even wear and medium pile, there is some historic wear to the side bindings and the kilim ends.
The rug is suitable for light domestic use.
