Description
Size: 3ft 8in x 2ft 9in (113 x 85cm).Antique Afghan prayer rug by the Taimani nomads of central western Afghanistan.
Circa 1900/20.
This is a very good example of a small Taimani prayer rug, excellent soft glossy wool with a rich colour palette; the field designs and borders are typical of the Taimani. Note the long kilim ends with a single band of weft work decoration.
The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear, and good pile. The rug has very soft wool with long glossy pile, a very good example of this type of prayer rug.
The rug is suitable for light domestic use and would make a superb wall hanging.
