Description

Size: 4ft 0in x 2ft 8in (123 x 80cm).
Vintage Afghan Beshir Turkmen prayer rug with rams horn design to the Mihrab.
Circa 1950.
A very good small prayer rug, the rams horn design in this format is associated with the Turkmen tribes; especially the Ersari / Beshir, who settled in northern Afghanistan. This very sweet small rug is dated to either side at the top, 1328 which translates to 1949/50. So the rug is now about 75 years old. The field has a vertical row of five Turkmen guls, surrounded by pomegranate flowers. This is a charming and colourful little rug.
The rug is in excellent condition with slight wear and full pile.
The rug is suitable for normal domestic use or would make a great wall hanging.
