Description
Size: 10ft 6in x 6ft 2in (320 x 188cm).Antique East Caucasian Kuba region kilim of outstanding colour and design.
Circa 1900.
A good example of a traditional Kuba kilim from the Eastern Caucasus. The dark indigo blue ground off sets the bold shield design well. The design is thought to be derived from the lotus palmettes, found on the 18th century Caucasian 'shield' carpets. The border is of the traditional 'zig-zag' with bar design. A colourful and bold example of this well known design.
The kilim is in excellent condition with very slight wear.
The kilim is suitable for normal domestic use.
