Description
Size: 15ft 11in x 10ft 0in (486 x 304cm).Old Afghan Libijar kilim of traditional panel design.
Circa 1930.
Libijar kilims were woven in a small group of villages in north eastern Afghanistan, where Ersari Turkmen families had settled. The kilims are of a traditional design of square panels in Indigo blue, madder red and a clear gold / yellow; each panel contains an arrow head design to its centre. This is a striking example of large size.
Excellent condition, very slight wear. This is a very strong, firm and durable kilim, it would be suitable for everyday use if fitted on a good underlay.
