Size: 9ft 5in x 4ft 3in (288 x 129cm).Antique north east Caucasian Shirvan rug with Kuba Afshan design.
Circa 1900.
This good Shirvan rug has the classic Afshan design on a clear madder red field. The rug has a single vertical row of five medallions, two of the cruciform star design and three of floral rosette form, surrounded by the zoomorphic split palmette designs. The border is of the traditional Shirvan 'Kufic' design.
Excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile. The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
Hand washed and ready for use.
