Size: 3ft 8in x 2ft 2in (112 x 67cm).Antique Tekke Turkmen chuval face with 16 chuval guls on a cochineal coloured ground.
Circa 1880.
An interesting chuval face with four rows of four chuval guls on a cochineal red ground. The chuval face is of very fine weave with a feeling of good age. The main border is a classic Turkmen box design. The elem is of the classic Tekke tree design. The chuval face is probably Tekke although it has been suggested to me that it is Saryk.
Fair condition with even wear and medium pile, there are a few small old spots of damage, the sides have been reduced and new selvedge's added; this is reflected in the price.
