A very small size Indian silk rug with a all over floral design.
About 50 years old.
The rug has an ivory coloured field filled with a repeat floral, the border is a floral design on a rich red ground.
The main feature of this rug is the fineness of the weave, it has the finest knotting that I have ever seen on a hand knotted rug.
The rug is in excellent condition with very slight wear and good pile. The rug has been hand washed recently.
Silk pile on a silk foundation, the pile is very soft and the rug has a floppy, cloth like handle.
The rug is suitable for light domestic use, or would make a good wall hanging.
Please note: Silk rugs are difficult to photograph due to the light reflecting off the very shiny surface, light areas are not fading, they are just light reflections. The close up images show the truest colours.
