Description

Size: 8ft 11in x 5ft 4in (273 x 163cm).
Antique Uzbek flat weave kilim with embroidered design, these are known as 'suzani kilim'.
Circa 1900..
This interesting kilim is woven in nine strips of soft red wool plain weave, which are then embroidered with large Uzbek octagonal guls and a traditional reciprocal border design, the strips are then stitched together to make the kilim. The lower panel is of a darker shade as is the small panel inserted in the top right hand corner. These kilims are often associated with the Lakai tribe and the Kungrad region of Uzbekistan.
These kilim are of sturdy construction and are suitable for floor use, or they make excellent wall hangings.
The kilim is in excellent condition with very slight signs of use.
