Size: 5ft 11in x 4ft 11in (180 x 150cm).Antique Uzbek Bokhara suzani of small size.
Circa 1950.
Suzani are silk embroideries that have been woven in Uzbekistan for many hundreds of years, they are treasured family items woven by the ladies of a family usually to celebrate a wedding. They are then used to decorate the inside of the Yurt. They are embroidered in silk on strips of cotton which are then joined together to make the complete item.
This small example is of a floral lattice design on a plain ivory ground, the border is of a traditional large scale design.
The condition is good with only very slight wear and no repairs, the suzani has not been backed. There are a few historic stains to the plain field.
The suzani would make a good wall hanging display item.
