Description
Size: 4ft 5in x 3ft 9in (135 x 115cm).Antique Uzbek 'becasab' silk ikat coat, known as 'khalat'.
Circa 1890.
This gentleman's coat in silk ikat design originates from the Samarkand region, this is a 'luxury' quality of coat worn by the wealthy Uzbek gentlemen. Becasab silk is polished with bees wax, it has silk warps and cotton wefts. The coat has the original Russian printed cotton lining.
The condition is excellent with some signs of use and a few historic small stains.
