Size: 5ft 3in x 2ft 11in (160 x 89cm).Antique Afghan Kizil Ayak Turkmen prayer rug of scarce design.
Circa 1900.
A scarce Afghan prayer rug by the Kizil Ayak Turkmen of Northern Afghanistan. The rug has two large star medallions to the field flanked by the Turkmen 'kejebe' design. Note the use of yellow as a highlight colour and also the upper and lower panels at the ends of the rug.
The rug is in fair condition with some wear and medium / low pile.
The rug is suitable for light domestic use or would make a great display item as a wall hanging.
