Size: 6ft 4in x 4ft 1in (192 x 125cm).Vintage Afghan Taimani Sistan Baluch prayer rug in mixed technique.
Circa 1930.
This is an interesting example of a prayer rug by the Taimani Baluch, the rug is in mixed technique with mainly knotted pile with the central panels in a flat stich giving an appearance like a Persian 'souf' rug, note the use of camel wool through out. The Taimani Baluch were semi nomadic in the Sistan Provence of Western Afghanistan, this design of prayer rug is unique to them.
The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile. The rug has very soft camel wool.
The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
