Antique Uzbek Lakai tribe ilgich, dowry wall hanging for the yurt.
Circa 1900.
Ilgich are embroidered hangings that usually formed part of a brides dowry; they are talismanic and considered to be protective. This example is embroidered in silk on a black velvet ground. It is made up of a number of small embroidered pieces possibly of an earlier date.
The condition is good with some age related wear.
