Description
Size: 10ft 7in x 6ft 6in (322 x 198cm).Antique Timuri Baluch main carpet with all over shrub design.
2nd half 19th century
A really outstanding Timuri main carpet, the shrub design in this format is usually only found on smaller rugs and prayer rugs of the 'Dokhtar-e-Qazi' design. This carpet has classic Timuri borders and of particular note are the large end panels in soumak work.
Superb colour through out with great indigo blues and soft madder reds.
Slight even wear with good pile, some corrosion to the browns.
Hand washed and ready for use or display.
This is a scare and very collectable example of Timuri weaving in condition making it suitable for floor use.
