Description

Size: 6ft 2in x 3ft 10in (187 x 116cm).
A rare Antique Baluch rug from Western Afghanistan. A Baluch rug with outstanding colour in superb condition with a scarce design.
2nd half 19th century.
The rug has a 'calyx' lattice design to the field, the main border design is representing Turkmen 'Tumar' and the minor borders are of the Yomut Turkmen 'Syrga' design. The combination of these designs makes this a very rare Baluch weaving.
The rug is in excellent condition with even wear and medium pile. The rug has very good wool and also retains the original long kilims at both ends, these have weft work decoration. The browns are showing signs of corrosion.
The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
