Description
Size: 10ft 0in x 7ft 3in (304 x 222cm).Antique Tekke Turkmen main carpet with 4 rows of 10 guls.
4th quarter 19th century.
The carpet has a clear red ground colour which gives the carpet a rich and warm feel. The guls are well drawn and cochineal dye is used in the central quartered design. The border is a traditional Turkmen octagon design with many interesting elements. An interesting feature of the carpet is the piled elem panels at each end of the carpet, these are normally woven kilim but on this carpet they are knotted pile.
The carpet is in excellent condition with slight even wear with good pile.
Both ends retain the original piled end finishes.
The carpet is suitable for normal domestic use.
The carpet has been hand washed and is ready for use.
