Description

Size: 5ft 9in x 4ft 2in (174 x 128cm).
Antique Eastern Caucasian Konakend rug with the traditional split palmette design.
Late 19th century.
A good example of a Konakend village rug from the Eastern Caucasus, the design is the traditional split palmette or bird head, in ivory on a dark indigo field. The border design is also typical for this village. The rug has a very light feel due to the large amount of ivory and olive brown used in the weaving.
The rug is in excellent condition with fine weave and slight even wear and good pile. Both ends retain the original flat woven and plaited finishes.
The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
