Size: 8ft 4in x 5ft 1in (255 x 155cm).Antique Turkish Taspinar village rug of classic medallion design with superb colour.
Circa 1900.
Taspinar is a small town on the central Anatolian plateau just south of Aksaray, it has a long standing tradition of making very fine rugs of which this is an excellent early example. The rug was sourced directly from a private family living in the town.
The rug has very soft wool and is beautifully drawn with excellent colours through out. The border in soft gold is of particular note and contrasts well with the brighter colours of the field design. The rug is of slightly larger than average size which makes it unusual.
The rug is in excellent condition with very slight wear and good pile.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display. The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
