Description
Size: 10ft 0in x 6ft 10in (305 x 208cm). Excluding the fringe.A really beautiful example of a Turkish Kayseri silk carpet with the Paradise Garden design.
About 50 years old.
The carpet is of fine weave (8 x 8 knots per cm), and superbly drawn with excellent colour. The soft cream ivory coloured field is filled with an all over design of floral palmettes and many different animals including lions and deer all in soft pastel colours. The border in soft gold is of particular note.
The carpet is in excellent condition with no wear and full pile. The ends are in perfect condition. The carpet has been wall hung for all of its life.
Silk pile on a silk foundation.
The carpet is suitable for normal domestic use and would make a wonderful statement in any room.
