Excellent Antique Tribal Qashqai rug with central medallion and all over floral design.
Circa 1880.
The rug has a abrashed mid indigo blue ground with a small central medallion, floating on a field which is covered with a floral design consisting of flowers and small rosette flower heads. Note the small animals that are hiding amongst the flowers. The rug has classic Qashqai border designs and retains the checker board design at both ends.
The rug is in excellent condition with very slight even wear and almost full pile, the rug is of fine weave with good wool, the rug has a nice floppy handle in the hand. The dye quality is of the highest order.
This is a truly outstanding example of Qashqai weaving that has survived in untouched original condition.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
