Size: 3ft 5in x 3ft 7in (105 x 108cm).
A good sofreh (eating cloth) by the Afshar tribe, these were placed on the ground for food to be served on or in some cases for the preparation of bread.
Circa 1920.
This example is woven with a mixture of plain flat weave, weft work. The central panel is of bold design with wonderful use of colour. The zig zag design is thought to represent flowing water.
The sofreh is in excellent condition with very slight wear. There is a faint old stain caused by use, this is reflected in the price.
The sofreh is suitable for light domestic floor use or it would make a great throw or wall hanging.
The sofreh has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
