Description

Size: 7ft 8in x 4ft 9in (233 x 145cm).
Antique Kashkuli Qashqai rug with floral boteh design on a scarce ivory ground.
Circa 1870/80.
An outstanding example of Kashkuli tribal weaving, beautiful floral boteh in pastel shades on a ivory ground. The drawing of the boteh is superb with great detail and a very balanced feel to the design. The clear madder red border is drawn with the classic Kashkuli floral palmette design, the border frames the rug well and compliments the lighter coloured field.
The rug has even wear with medium / low pile. The are a few old re-weaves to the ivory ground, these are shown in the images but are blended well. The rug is of very fine weave with a very floppy handle typical of the earliest examples.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display. The rug is suitable for light domestic use.
A superb collectors display item.
