Antique Qashqai long rug with ivory ground and large scale tribal herati design.
Circa 1870.
This outstanding tribal Qashqai rug is one of a small group of ivory ground long rugs with a tribal herati design, a small number of these are silk wefted but this example has very fine red wool wefts. The rug has a large scale herati design and many tribal filler elements including pecking chickens, animals, people and even a man leading a horse. The corners are deep indigo blue which contrasts with the ivory field. The multiple borders are beautifully drawn.
The rug is in excellent original condition with even wear and medium pile, the ends are complete with the original checkerboard design and long plaited tassels. The rug is untouched original condition and free from any repairs or restoration.
The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use.
