Size: 4ft 3in x 2ft 9in (129 x 84cm).Antique Tekke Turkmen prayer rug, Turkmen prayer rugs of any type are scarce.
Circa 1900/20.
The rug has a mosque design to the mihrab and hand placements. The field has a repeat design of chuval guls. The rug has detailed multiple borders and an elem panel at the base with a traditional shrub design.
The rug is of a very fine weave with excellent wool, the red dye is clear and bright. Both ends retain the original end finishes and tassels which are slightly worn in places.
The rug is in excellent condition with very slight wear and good pile.
The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or would make an excellent wall hanging.
