Antique Turkish Sivas carpet with excellent soft colours and fine design.
Circa 1900.
This carpet is a scarce example of type, the field is a soft warm terracotta red with the design being based on the Safavid era vase carpets, these are floral palmettes joined by a flowering vine. The border is also of interest being a copy of the design used on the famous Mohtasham Kashan workshop rugs and carpets. The carpet is of a generous large squarish size, making is ideal for a large living room.
The Carpet is in excellent condition with very slight even wear and good pile, the carpet is of fine weave and has soft wool.
This is a very good furnishing carpet that would grace any home and complement the finest antiques.
The carpet is suitable for normal domestic use.
The carpet has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
