Size: 4ft 4in x 3ft 1in (133x 93cm).Antique Timuri Baluch blue ground prayer rug.
Circa 1880.
A good blue ground Timuri Baluch prayer rug from Western Afghanistan. The field is filled with a stylized tree motif which is also found in the hand placements. The borders contain stars within octagons. There are small coloured silk highlights within the field. The rug retains the original end finishes at both ends with weft work decoration.
The rug is in good condition with even wear, and medium / low pile. The rug is original condition with some losses to the sides and ends and corrosion to the brown dyes.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
The rug is suitable for light domestic use.
