Description
Size: 6ft 7in x 6ft 4in (200 x 192cm).Antique Western Anatolian Bergama region Karakecili rug of classic design.
2nd half 19th century.
A very good example of a West Anatolian Karakecili rug with a traditional design, the rug has a the usual weave for these rugs and very earthy colour tones. Of particular note is the border design, notice how the right hand border changes into a totally different design. The rug has retained the original kilim end finishes.
The rug has even wear and medium pile, there is some corrosion to the charcoal browns. The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
