Size: 4ft 0in x 2ft 7in (123 x 78cm). Excluding tassels.A small Chinese silk rug with a prayer design on a turquoise blue ground.
About 20 years old.
The rug is of a traditional prayer design with a vase and flowers at the base with birds and deer. The turquoise blue ground is quite eye catching. The border design is of flowers and birds. The outer border is sculpted giving a profiled effect.
The rug is in excellent condition with very slight wear and good pile. The rug has been hand washed recently.
Silk pile on a silk foundation, a rug of fine weave with a very soft floppy handle.
The rug is suitable for light domestic use, or would make a good wall hanging.
Please note: Silk rugs are difficult to photograph due to the light reflecting off the very shiny surface, light areas are not fading, they are just light reflections. The close up images show the truest colours.
