Size: 3ft 11in x 2ft 6in (120 x 75cm). Excluding tassels.A very good Turkish Hereke silk rug with mille fleur design.
About 50 years old.
The rug has a dark indigo blue field covered with finely drawn flower heads, the corners in soft yellow contrast well with this. The main border in in a very rich crimson red. The rug is signed to the top left hand corner. This rug is an excellent example of Hereke silk weaving at its very best.
The rug is in excellent condition with very slight wear and good pile. The rug has been hand washed recently.
Silk pile on a silk foundation.
The rug is suitable for light domestic use, or would make a good wall hanging.
Please note: Silk rugs are difficult to photograph due to the light reflecting off the very shiny surface, light areas are not fading, they are just light reflections. The close up images show the truest colours.
