Size: 3ft 7in x 2ft 4in (110 x 72cm). Excluding tassels.A very good Turkish Hereke silk rug with a floral design in soft pastel colours.
About 50 years old.
The rug has a creamy ivory field covered with floral sprays in soft pastel colours. The main border is in soft pink with a linked floral design. The rug is signed to the bottom left hand corner. This rug is an excellent example of Hereke silk weaving at its very best.
The rug is in excellent condition with very slight wear and good pile. The rug has been hand washed recently.
Silk pile on a silk foundation.
The rug is suitable for light domestic use, or would make a good wall hanging.
Please note: Silk rugs are difficult to photograph due to the light reflecting off the very shiny surface, light areas are not fading, they are just light reflections. The close up images show the truest colours.
