Size: 4ft 9in x 4ft 4in (145 x 132cm).Antique Uzbek Karakalpak embroidered wedding veil, known as 'kyz kiymeshek'.
19th century.
This rare veil was worn over the head by the bride during her wedding, with the embroidered panel to the front and the ikat panel hanging down at the back. (See image of an example being worn). The embroidery to the front is in silk chain stich, with silk 'adras' ikat to the back.
The condition is excellent with some signs of use and a few historic repairs.
