Size: 5ft 5in x 3ft 6in (165 x 106cm). Antique Uzbek Bokhara suzani of small size, attractive floral design. Circa 1920. Suzani are silk embroideries that have been woven in Uzbekistan for many hundreds of years, they are treasured family items woven by the ladies of a family usually to celebrate a wedding. They are then used to decorate the inside of the Yurt. They are embroidered in silk on strips of cotton which are then joined together to make the complete item. The suzani is then backed with fine cotton to give it strength and body. This small example is embroidered using the 'Tambour' technique, this uses a crochet hook rather than a needle. The silk embroidery is on a hand woven linen ground. The condition is excellent with only very slight wear and no repairs, the suzani has a printed cotton backing that can be seen in the images. The suzani is ready for display. Ref: T-0323. All of our prices include FREE WORLD WIDE EXPRESS DELIVERY by DHL. To purchase any item please click on the payment link.
