Size: 3ft 9in x 1ft 3in (115 x 39cm) each face size.A pair of antique Tekke Turkmen torba faces of fine weave, with eight Salor type guls.
Circa 1880.
A good pair Tekke torba faces. These torba were used to decorate the side of a camel during a Turkmen wedding procession, these were prized possessions and formed part of the wedding dowry. The were kept as heirlooms and displayed inside the yurt. This pair are of fine weave and have eight small 'Salor' style turreted guls to the central panel, surrounded by a number of finely drawn borders.
The torba's are in excellent condition with very slight wear and excellent pile. The plain weave backs has been removed at some time in the torba's history.
