Description

Size: 6ft 2in x 4ft 11in (187 x 150cm).
This rug is an outstanding and rare example of a nomadic tribal 'Tiger' rug by the Khamseh tribe of South West Persia.
Circa 1900.
The rug is beautifully drawn with superb colours, the large Tiger is on a light indigo blue field. The field is filled with many different trial elements the most notable of which is a large horse with a headless rider. There are many birds, animals and flowers; but the main feature is the beautiful Tiger.
Both ends of the rug retain the original finishes with a short kilim.
The rug is in excellent condition with a fine weave and medium pile. There is some slight wear and corrosion to the blacks especially in the horse. This is a fine and light weight rug.
The rug is suitable for light domestic use but would make a truly outstanding wall hanging.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
