Description

Size: 2ft 1in x 1ft 11in (63 x 58cm).
Antique South Persian salt bag by the Afshar tribe.
Late 19th century.
This is a superb example of Afshar Soumak work with the boteh design to the body of the bag and a single star to the neck. The yellow ground border with the 's' design is very nice. Note the typical Afshar brocaded closure at the top and the original loops. The bag retains its original plain weave back with one small hole in it.
The salt bag is in excellent condition with some signs of tribal use.
The bag face has been hand washed and is ready for display.
