Description
An outstanding English pewter soup tureen and cover by Thomas Alderson made for the Coronation banquet of King George IV, held in Westminster Hall in 1821. The Tureen and cover both carry the Royal cypher for King George IV, the tureen also has a good set of touch marks for Thomas Alderson to the base.The Tureen is of large size with handles to each side and a matching handle to the cover. The cover is of double dome form. The tureen stands on four claw and ball feet.
A superb collectable display item in outstanding original condition.
