Chakesh rugs are considered to be the finest quality from this region.
This superb example is very similar to the one published by R.D.Parsons in his book ‘The Carpets of Afghanistan’.

This example is very well made with excellent wool; the abrashed red ground is a very pleasing colour.
The inner curl leaf border is also of interest. An excellent example of an Afghan Purdah (door hanging).
The rug is in excellent condition with very slight wear and good pile.
