Description
Size: 6ft 0in x 3ft 10in (182 x 116cm).Antique Turkish Hereke rug, wool pile on a wool foundation, with a scarce green ground.
Circa 1900/20.
The rug is beautifully drawn with a small central floral medallion surrounded by floral sprays. The border is of a matching floral design.
The rug is of very fine weave, Hereke is famed for its very fine silk rugs, but the workshops also made a small number of very fine wool rugs such as this example.
The rug is in excellent condition with very even wear and medium pile, there is slightly heavier wear at the lower end.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
