Description

Size: 4ft 9in x 2ft 11in (145 x 88cm).
Antique Ersari Turkmen chuval with 12 chuval gul design.
1st half 19th century.
The chuval is well drawn with outstanding colour. The design is 12 chuval guls with 6 full minor guls. The elem panel is the Turkmen tree design. Note how the guls at the sides are set in by a few rows of knots from the border as is found in Salor weavings.
There are purple silk highlights to the centre quarters of the chuval guls.

The chuval is in good original condition with even wear and medium / low pile. There are a finger tip size areas of heavier wear. The silk highlights are corroded.
The chuval is clean but i have not washed it, and is ready for use or display with a Velcro hanging strip attached to the reverse top.
