Size: 4ft 11in x 2ft 8in (150 x 82cm).Antique Baluch rug with superb colour.
Circa 1880.
A very good example of a tribal Baluch rug from the 19th century, the camel wool ground is filled with a diagonal lattice of lotus leaves. The light indigo blue used in the design is of the highest quality and shimmers in daylight. The wide border is of the classic Baluch boat design.
The rug has had a hard life as can be seen in the images, the sides and ends are ragged and there is some heavy wear. The rug retains a charm and beauty making it a great display item suitable as a wall hanging. The condition is reflected in the price.
The rug is suitable for very light domestic use.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
