Size: 4ft 10in x 3ft 9in (147 x 114cm).Antique Caucasian Shirvan rug from the Kuba region, 'Tree of life with birds' design on a dark indigo blue ground.
Circa 1880.
An outstanding example of a Kuba Shirvan rug with one of the more unusual designs, Known as a 'bird' Shirvan or 'tree of life' Shirvan, this design combination with the interlocking bird border is considered to be scarce. The rug has superb colour with precise and detailed drawing, a truly outstanding rug.
The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear and medium pile.
The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
