Description
Size: 5ft 3in x 3ft 7in (160 x 110cm).Antique Caucasian Karabagh region prayer rug.
Circa 1880.
A superb example of a Caucasian prayer rug, note the human figures either side of the prayer niche. The charcoal coloured field is covered with hooked medallions with an unusual design at the lower end. The border designs are typical of this region.
Superb drawing through out, with excellent colour
The rug is in good condition with even wear and medium pile, the charcoal field has corroded and been re-piled in places.
The rug has been hand washed and ready for use or display.
